Touchstone Center for Crafts, founded in 1972 as the Pioneer Crafts Council, is Pennsylvania’s only residential craft school. The campus, with its cluster of educational and residential facilities, is located in Farmington, Pennsylvania, amid the natural splendor of the Laurel Highlands. Touchstone’s original mission was to foster public interest in the traditional craft forms of the Appalachian region. After four decades of successful artistic and educational programming, the school now offers workshops in traditional, contemporary, and emerging craft forms. In addition to offering immersive workshops taught by nationally renowned artisans, Touchstone provides underserved audiences in the region, from senior citizens to public school students, craft-centered outreach classes and programs.
